The Area C mine (MAC) is an iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 92 kilometres west-north-west of Newman. The mine is majority-owned and operated by BHP.
Lycopodium provided maintenance strategy review and development services to enable the BHPIO MAC maintenance department to operate and maintain the Top Laboratory to achieve optimum performance of the asset.
The project involved site asset validations and running workshops with client maintenance and operations representatives during the maintenance development stage for stakeholder input. The maintenance strategies and tactics were developed on Lycopodium’s in-house software.
As part of the project Lycopodium also developed a spares listing for the laboratory equipment and contacted vendors to obtain pricing and availability for the spare parts.
A Bill of Materials (BOM) listing was then developed and submitted on upload templates to update SAP.
Key deliverables for the project included:
- Technical object structure update
- Maintenance strategy worksheet development
- Planned Maintenance Instructions (PMI)
- Work Instructions (WIN)
- Maintenance Plans upload sheet
- Identification of spares & cataloguing
- Updated Bill of Materials
