Back Forty Project

Americas, United States
Back Forty is a zinc and gold-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit located in Michigan, USA.

The project is based on processing an 800tpd oxide ore and 4,000tpd polymetallic sulphide ore through conventional flotation and gold leach and Merrill Crowe circuits respectively.

The plant will produce zinc, copper and lead concentrates and gold doré. Ore will be mined from an open-pit mine and tailings stored in a conventional Tailings Management Facility (TMF).

Lycopodium’s scope included the provision of engineering and study management services prepared for a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) and NI 43-101 Technical Report, including the development of engineering information and deliverables required to support capital and operating cost estimates.

Project improvements:

  • Treat oxide and sulphide ores simultaneously.
  • Flexible design to process various ore types (high Cu, high Pb).
  • Stockpiling and treatment campaigning.
